What is Homeschool Distance Learning
Colleges and universities are constantly modifying their admissions standards in order to be able to compete for the country’s best and brightest students. Oftentimes, these changing standards place homeschooled children at a distinct disadvantage in terms of admissions because the diplomas they receive are often not considered official in the eyes of the university. Because of this, parents of homeschooled children are constantly looking for ways to level the proverbial playing field, especially when it comes to having their children compete with traditionally-schooled students for those same coveted spots in the country’s top colleges and universities.
In some cases, colleges and universities might not recognize the legitimacy of diplomas issued by parents of homeschooled children. In these cases, parents are left with several options as to how they can ensure that their child’s diploma will be recognized and considered equivalent to the dimplomas received at traditional public or private high schools, especially once the student begins the college application process. For most parents, the popular option involves the use of homeschool distance learning.

Great Ideas For Teaching Online
Success in a face-to-face environment does not always transfer to the elements needed for success in an online course; however, teaching online can be as rewarding as teaching in person. By including a variety of interactive strategies and maintaining communication, instructors can create a learning environment that encourages students to learn and to explore. The following tips include the key elements for success in teaching and learning in an online course.
The first week of an online course is very important for both the instructor and the learners regardless of the subject area, program, or level. Clarity is required because the students many not know how to utilize all the online course functions and features, or may be nervous if they have never taken an online class before. Be sure to be very clear on class policies, such as when and how to submit assignments. Some strategies that help the students feel less isolated are including a welcome page or email before the class starts and then having the students introduce each other can help guide how the rest of the class will run as students make connections to their classmates.

Is Distance Education Right for You
Distance education is seen both as a way to offer more equitable distribution of educational resources to special populations of students, and as a way to make instruction more cost-effective by sharing teachers and instructional materials. Distance education is a newer term for correspondence courses, which arose from the need to provide schooling to students in remote, sparsely populated areas that could not support a school. Distance education is the current hot topic for educators in all fields, including second and foreign language, and it was the focus of the CALL-IS academic session and other panels this year at the international TESOL convention. Distance education is often used to enhance the quality of traditional primary and secondary schooling and to deliver instruction to students in remote rural areas.
